Remarks | Seen while driving northbound on I-99. Very dark area, sky covered in thin stratus clouds. Flash was bright enough I noticed whole sky lighting up before I looked up to see fireball. Timing is probably only accurate +/- 2 minutes: I know that my car clock said 8:20 at sighting time and was about 3 minutes ahead of EDT when I got home a half-hour later, but that means I rounded twice to get my reported "8:17". |
