Reports Report 4142an (Event 4142-2016)

Observer
Name Shelli S
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks To my immediate west is Sonoma Mountain range (highest elevation is 2,287 feet) and from my home's front landing which faces directly north the elevation of the fireball seemed to be only a bit above that-perhaps 2500-3000 feet in the sky. I also observed this fireball not that far in the distance from my house. I would say it happened before the vicinity of Madrone Road, which is less than a mile in that direction from my house. This was an incredible and unique experience that I will never forget! Happy to report it and I apologize for the delay but I did write the details down that night and I remember it so clearly still!

Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks Instant huge green flash then right after as it descended straight down it turned to an instant yellow color but less intensity of brightness and than original explosion and about 1/3 the size.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks As mentioned above, the yellow fragment was definitely part of the original green fireball explosion as it descended straight down-but even after the yellow part diminished completely, there was a whitish object (perhaps fragment?) that shot straight to the right (horizontal and eastward). I am not sure if it was fragment from fireball or something else like a bird being effected by the fireball or not. It was incredibly fast though...i.e. like when an explosion happens on the ground and a rock/object shoots off rapidly from effected area. either the object is part of material in actual explosion or another object being effected by explosion. I am not sure which it was.
