Reports Report 1289b (Event 1289-2017)

Observer
Name Melissa S
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I was standing on my front porch with the moon shining bright in the east. There are also 2 street lights on either side of my front yard and both were operating. The light was so sudden and so bright I had to ask my daughters friend if he saw it. I couldn't believe my luck to see a shooting star that close or bright. It took my breath away!!!! I have watched meteor showers when I can with my daughters for years. During previous observation I've seen small intermittent streaks up very high in the sky, but the shooting star or fireball from last night appeared so close I almost wanted to walk in the direction it fell to see what I could find.

Remarks Bright falling star appeared suddenly with a flash a little above the tree line and fell just as quickly behind the tree line. I live East of I-40 and when the bright ball fell it came down in the tree line between my home and I-40.
