Reports Report 1337jo (Event 1337-2017)

Observer
Name Karen M
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks When I first saw it, I thought it was a comet, as it had a glowing tail, or something that looked like an afterburner. From where I was standing in our driveway, about 10 feet above the street level, it looked like it was just below the tops of the trees (maybe 30 ft) in our front yard. It took a steady, silent, curved path from my right to my left, as I faced the street. I told my son to look and we watched it for at least 7-10 seconds. My son(33 yrs) thought it looked like an incoming missile. We actually listened, halfway expecting to hear an impact once it was out of our view. It didn't seem like a meteor that I had ever seen since it seemed to be on a path --not just a quick burning meteor that I have seen while observing different meteor showers in the past. It reminded me of the International Space Station moving across the sky only much closer to earth, slightly faster--but the same steady pace--and much brighter with a short diminishing tail.
