Remarks Note: I did not see the actual fireball due to the tall trees to my ESE. Light was coming from above the roofs but below tops of trees. About 11:28-11:32 at night. I grabbed my cup of oolong tea, stepped out onto my direct south facing porch and stood there for about 15 seconds. When I was just about to take a sip the sky to my ESE lit up like sky before sunrise. The W sky stayed dark. There was about a 1 sec pause and than a series of rapid flashes lasted about 3-5 seconds. The flashes moved to the SSE. All my hair stood up as I pulled the teacup away from my lips without taking my sip. About the time the flashes stopped, I had finally fixed my gaze on the following position. The light seemed to be brighter and centered up in the sky behind the top 1/3 of the 60 foot trees of the corner houses on the adjacent street behind my house. I ran into the house and 1 minute later told my sleeping wife what I saw while opening the windows. And about 2 minutes later we heard a huge metal barrel hit the pavement off in the distance, pause, and then a series of similar, less loud, grinding-like sounds in rapid succession for about 3-5 seconds. It was echoing off in the distance.
