Remarks | I was facing north at 11:30 PM ET. A green fireball approximately the size of the full moon appeared about 30 degrees above the horizon (possibly previously hidden by patchy clouds) and moved rapidly straight down from my perspective, until obscured by my house. It maintained brightness as long as it was in view, which was 1/4 to 1/2 of a second. It flickered only slightly, as if burning. Color was bright green, slightly on the blue side of green (as opposed to the yellow side of green.) It gave the impression of burning like a firework or a flare, but it was large (like full moon) and moving down (from my perspective) too quickly to be a falling firework or flare. There was no sound. It maintained size and brightness for the period I witnessed. |
