I was driving at the time and my field of view was limited by trees. The object and tail may have been longer. I wouldn't really describe this as a fireball; it seemed more like a comet, but it seemed very close - big enough to see some irregularity in the shape of the head.

It was a line with fairly hard edges, the same colour as the object (pale blue-grey). It described the object's trajectory in a slight arc, and a slight taper.
