Was initially looking at the house to my left (west) and saw a bright illumination in my peripheral vision behind me. Initial impression was that a street light had just went on above me but across the street. Turned and saw very bright light shooting straight and low across the sky for about a second. Pale yellow with a hint of red right before it went away. Thought it was a firework at first but there was no sound and it seemed too fast.
