Remarks I was on a cruise passing through the straits of Gibraltar hoping to see the Rock at night when at 11.30 Approx Spanish time a very bright trail appeared due north very low and vanished after about 2 secs below the horizon so did not see the end of the event. The colour was judged by comparison to a full moon seen rising above the sea a few days earlier. I was surprised only one comparable viewing has been reported as this was the brightest I have seen. The trail was very wide but that could have been an atmospheric affect due to the low altitude just above the Spanish hills.
