Reports Report 174bo (Event 174-2012)

Observer
Name Mike B
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I\'m been in aviation for 25+ years (AF navigator) and am familiar with typical meteor showers. I\'ve also witness a fireball a long time ago driving around the midwest at night. The first meteor reminded me of that one I saw in the midwest and the 2nd one was like a very spectacular green firework.

Remarks -
Delayed Sound
Observation No
Remarks No sounds with these fireballs but did hear a lound booming sound ~ 10 minutes prior which could have been additional meteors...
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 2s
Length 30°
Remarks I saw two consecutive fireballs. I caught the tail end of one fireball (white) which ended in a very brilliant/bliding flash. The 2nd fireball came about 3-5 seconds later and looked greenish in color with a long green tail.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks First one ended in a very bright/blinding flash. The 2nd one seemed to burn itself out vs. explode like the first. Ironically, I had heard a very loud explosion sound about 10 mintues prior to seeing these two meteors. I thought it was someone shooting a gun but my young daughter came in my room as she was scared from the sound. I didn\'t consider a correlation until after seeing the two fireballs.
Fragmentation
Observation Unknown
