Remarks as I live in an suburban area, I cannot be certain but I first looked around when I heard a crackling sound. I was facing south at the time and first observed the object when it was approaching an easterly position. After I saw the object I cannot remember whether there was any sound.

Remarks The fireball disintegrated to the south of my position. It split into several pieces (5 to 10) dimmed and disappeared in approx 2 seconds duration. From previous observations of meteors it seemed to be travelling very slowly during the entire duration of my observation.
