Reports Report 533q (Event 533-2012)

Observer
Name Chuck L
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks From my location, this had the lowest, flatest apparent track I\'ve ever seen, and was probably the 3rd or 4th \"slowest\" traverse I\'ve ever seen, and I\'ve been viewing meteors for nearly 50 years. This was a \'lucky\' hit, as I was out walking and just happened to be looking toward Venus/Jupiter fairly low in the evening twilight when I first saw this appear to their right. Remarkably bright green color and orange tail. Air temp ws about 42F, no wind, and beautifully clear sky.

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 4s
Length 6.25°
Remarks No \'persistent\' train, but a long tail(1.5 - 2.0 moon widths) trailed the bright glowing \'head\'. This was visible after about the first 3 seconds when the fireball was still brightening, and lasted perhaps another 3 seconds glowing orange and \'sparks\' appeaered to eminate from the outer edges of the tail (fragments?) Overall length of sighting was about 6 seconds from first visibility to last. Meteor was slow moving, perhaps covering 40-50 Deg. in Azimuth from a WNW to NNW direction,
Terminal flash
Observation No
Remarks Possible fragmentation along the edges of the tail immediately behind the main body or \'head\' of the fireball.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
