Remarks | I have seen objects enter the atmosphere before that appeared to be traveling at a much greater velocity. This object appeared to travel slow enough to question its origins. I am certain that the object I saw was traveling well above the speed of sound and was not an aircraft, well not for long. While I only saw the object for 5 seconds it may have been visible for much more time. The object was bright enough for me to notice it through venetian blinds out of my peripheral vision while working on my computer. The fireball produced an orange/yellow flame that was not well defined such as the flame generated from an afterburner. The tail of the fireball appeared to "lick" such as a candle flame when presented to a breeze. As it traveled out of view the fireball continued to alter its shape yet slowly decrease in apparent size. Moments before it disappeared glowing pieces, 2 to 3, and rather small in size appeared to break off of the primary object. The smaller pieces lasted less then a second each before vanishing from view. |

Remarks | Glowing pieces of the object appeared to break off of the fireball in the last 2 seconds of its flight. The pieces that broke off only appeared to glow for a brief moment before disappearing from view. The fireball continued briefly before it too vanished from sight. There may have been a brief moment of brightening before it vanished but this could have been an illusion due to the increase in apparent size as glowing pieces broke in its final moments. |
