Remarks | In thirty years of astronomy, it is the most bizarre object I have ever seen. It started as a small cloud about two degrees across, grew into an arc-shaped object about five degrees across, and then took on an appearance much like the evening comet PannStarrs of two years ago, though larger and brighter. I have never seen another thing like it. |

Remarks | After appearing for a minute or so as a bizarre arc-shaped cloud about five degrees across, the object developed a central condensation and then took on a cometary appearance, complete with an apparent tail which was oriented in an anti-solar direction, rather than trailing the object in its motion. |
