Looked like a burning fireball with a burning tail. It was big but the sighting was brief. It seemed to explode all at once. Definatly shooting northward over the Outerbanks of North Carolina but also downward. It wasn't skinny like a shooting star instead it was thick. It was also before nightfall so we were surprised at how bright it was. We saw it from our porch with friends and it were shocked by the sighting.
