I have looked through a telescope towards the sky on a few occasions. Not sure if that counts as experience. SEEING THIS EVENT WAS AWESOME!

Remarks
I was sitting by the pool facing north. Initially I heard a crack (like a whip) that is what made me turn my head(east). Then I heard a loud boom (like the boom of a firework on the 4th of July) the whole eastern part of the sky was lit up. then I heard a hiss that's when the actual fireball came into my vision. It was huge, it seemed very close (like 2 or 3 miles) and it had what looked like a wide tail. When it disappeared I could see the moon (it was just a sliver) further in the distance but at the same level on the horizon. It (the fireball) was the most spectacular thing I have ever witnessed. I just sat there in amazement for the longest time.

Terminal flash

Remarks
The only flash I saw was just before the fireball appeared in my vision. It was very bright and lit up the eastern part of the sky. It did not seem very far away. Almost like it was in my zip code area.
