Reports Report 2281b (Event 2281-2016)

Observer
Name Daniel R
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks This happened right before the fourth of July, and my first impression of the event was that it was very unusual...not at all like a Jet airplane, or a meteor, which I have plenty of experience with, being out under the night sky quite a bit. At the time, I found it to be a very strange experience, but I wrote it off as someone's errant firework. The light was very distinct--not piercingly bright, but definitely much brighter than a jet airplane's night-lights. I imagined it must be what a blowtorch must look like from far away at night. It was hard for me to judge the trajectory and elevation of the object on the horizon, because the area I was in is very hilly, and full of trees, but it definitely seemed much lower than a typical meteor. It seemed to be traveling at a very high speed, but again, nothing like a meteor which streaks across the sky like a bullet for just a second, and then vanishes. The reason I made this report is that it looked very very similar to the videos people have been posting about the meteor event that took place on Friday(Sept. 2nd 2016), so I'm interested to see what comes of this. Please keep in mind that since this event happened over two months ago, some of the details about it are fuzzy in my head, but seeing the Friday meteor event videos definitely triggered a recognition in my memory.
