Remarks A brilliant 2 or 3 ° wide carmine red streak starting just above nw horizon passing almost directly overhead disappearing to the sw behind treeline bright enough to read a newspaper and illuminate yard clearly. Either side of trajectory a 10° swath of glowing white light that persisted for more than a few seconds. Never seen anything remotely like it.
