Visual Observing Totals: 2006

The below table lists statistics for the visual meteor observers who share data with the American Meteor Society, the ALPO Meteors Section, or the International Meteor Organization during the calendar year 2006.

Abbreviations

Most abbreviations are self explainatory. A few of the more obscure ones plus the meteor shower abbrevations are listed below:

Teff - The effective observing observing time

Sol.Lg - The solar longitude of the mid-point of each period.

L.M. - The average limiting magnitude of the observer's field of view during each period.

F - The correction for obstacles such as clouds or trees in the observer's field of view during each period. A ten percent coverage of ones field of view would yield a correction of 1.11 (100 percent-10 percent = 90%), 100/90 = 1.11

SPO - Sporadic (random) meteors

ANT - Antihelion meteors (from a constant source located opposite the sun in the sky)

SHR - Shower meteors

COM - Coma Berenicids

QUA - Quadrantids
