Remarks We live right by the airport, I am very used to planes of various sizes descending or ascending as they access the Nanaimo Airport. My husband is a helicopter pilot, my first thought was an aircraft of some sort, in flames, crashing...but there was no sound, and it was too large. This was moving faster than the planes landing or taking off, perhaps twice as fast, but slower, much brighter and much, much larger than meteors I have seen from this same deck. It was much, much larger than an aircraft ( I immediately looked at the moon to get a reference as to its size; it was about 1/5 the size of the moon, at the time of sighting), and round with with a short glowing tail or possibly just the blur left by the passing of the object. TO HELP PINPOINT LOCATION: My field of view was limited - it appeared from behind the top 1/4 of the large tree on the right, and was lost to sight over the rear edge of the roof (not the top) of my home/nearby trees (the deck is only 12 feet wide and I was at the outside edge, ten feet from the road side of the deck), but was headed in an E/SE direction. As I was facing south east (ish), with the tree on my right, I did not see the approach, only as it transited through my narrow field of vision. The moon was pretty much to my left, in the east, centered above the roof of my home.
