Experience Level 4/5
Remarks Fast traveling meteor burning up brilliantly in the atmosphere. The magnitude when looking directly at the meteor was as bright or brighter than the full moon, I think I listed it as -12 but it may have been greater at times, as it lit up the surrounding area to nearly daytime conditions for a moment. I waited for a full 2 minutes in silence for any sound of impact and heard nothing. Probably very distant from my location. Appeared to have a Western trajectory, perhaps impacting in the pacific, if at all. Interesting colors, appearing mostly greenish, but flashes of resilient blue at times. Visible above the Santa Monica Mountains (from my vantage) for a few seconds before dropping below the mountains, but still producing a substantial amount of light while behind the mountains and blocked from my view. Had a pair of binoculars around my neck, but did not react in time!!
