Observer
Name Susan D
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I am reporting this so long after the fact only because I just today became aware of this website (it was mentioned in something unrelated I was reading online.) I have seen one other fireball, November 2000 in Fitchburg, MA during a meteor shower, it did not explode but it briefly (>1 sec) lit up my suburban back yard brighter than a bright full moon.

Remarks I witnessed during a meteor shower last summer when I was on vacation. The exploding bolide was number 21 of 61 shooting stars I saw between approx. 9:45 p.m. 8/11/16 and 1 a.m. 8/12/16. It appeared to "skip" or bounce 3 times as it came across the sky from NE to SE, exploding with a bright flash on the 3rd bounce. There was nothing audible (it was dead quiet where I was) and I was left with the impression that whatever happened took place miles east from me in the open ocean.
Fragmentation
