We were having celebrating my birthday with a party in my backyard that night when a friend pointed off behind my shoulder (I was sitting across from her at our picnic table, initially I was facing north and she was facing south) and I looked over my shoulder and up to see this large orangey ball just shooting across the sky! She was pointing over my right shoulder and I looked up and turned around slightly to see what she was pointing at, then watched as it flew across the sky, going north. It was positioned slightly to the east of us, I'd say. When it disappeared, I was facing forward and slightly to my right, east) looking up at the sky. I wanted to say that I'm not extremely confident on the time stamp for this. I didn't look at my phone to check the time, but I know that it was after 8:40 and before 9:30. Other witnesses will hopefully give a better time frame...
We all "wowed" and wondered if it was a comet, since wed all never seen a "shooting star" that huge. Everyone told me to make a wish on it, ha ha. I don't think anyone could ask for a better birthday shooting-star story! |
