Remarks First I thought it was a shooting star, but then I realised it was too near, too big, too slow. My wife only looked after a few seconds and she could still see it. For a moment we considered whether it could be fireworks, but there was no sound and we didn't think it would be possible to make such cool fireworks. Then we thought it might be a meteorite (which we never saw before). When we searched on youtube for clips of other meteorites, we realised this must've been one too. If we had had time to go look for ut, we might have even looked for it, about 1-2 km northeast from the camping les dunes de contis, but we didn't have time. Later on I learned that it must've fallen a lot further away anyway (than it seemed from our perspective; if it hadn't ablated yet, in the first place).
