Reports Report 3068be (Event 3068-2017)

Remarks I was sitting at the table in my kitchen looking at my laptop and over the top of the screen I see a huge glow, like lightning, but more yellow/orange than white. It started off to the south East and In the 1-2 seconds it moved so the glow was out the side window (East) and then disappeared. 5-10 seconds later I heard a long low rumbling boom. I did not see anything directly but just the glow of something obviously very bright. I'm a volunteer firefighter and got on the radio, my colleagues had heard the boom but not seen the light, though they found a witness who also saw it. We could find nothing after a brief search of the shoreline, looking up to the North and the mpuntains behind us, where 'it' would have hit. We got reports on the radio that the noise had been heard first some 10 miles away and then shortly after some 100 miles away in Creston, the other side of the mountain range. We received no reports or alerts of downed aircraft, or of explosions caused by the nearby forest fires.
