Reports Report 3068fl (Event 3068-2017)

Observer
Name Kevin T
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I have seen a few fireballs in the past, but nothing as bright as this. From my viewing point, it looked like it entered the sky just south of downtown Calgary and terminated just north of downtown Calgary. I caught the initial entrance out of the corner of my eye and turned my head to see what it was and observed a flaming object streaking across the sky but moving incredibly slowly, unlike any other meteor I had observed. It lasted I would say 4-5 seconds.

Remarks There was a visible trail of smoke that lingered, though the timing it stayed is difficult to know as the light of the fireball illuminated it. Once the light was extinguished, I'm not sure if the smoke was still there. There was smoke from the instant it was visible until it was out, covering its entire duration.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks There appeared to be two bright flashes, a green and a white one moments later.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks The meteor appeared to break up - it appeared like there were pieces falling off of the main rock.
