Remarks Initial flash is an interesting aspect, which I have not seen before. Would never have looked left and seen the meteor, was it not for the big flash.

Remarks Meteor seen from 25,000 ft on descent into Cyprus. Large flash seen - bright enough to light up the whole cockpit. Looked like lightning flash (But no cumulonimbus in the whole of the Mediterranean area.) Looked left to see fireball large fireball, breaking up into five or six smaller balls of differing speeds. Long trail of white and orange sparks. Biggest I have ever seen in 35 years. Appeared very similar to shuttle crash. Suspect it may have been space debris. .
Terminal flash
Observation No
Remarks One ball, splitting into five or six, of differing speeds. Large and long trail of orange and white sparks.
Fragmentation
