Remarks | I reported this to friends and family members, several of whom theorized that this could be associated with the NASA satellite which had been reported as being in a decaying orbit and expected to fall to earth this weekend. After checking several news sources to verify that this satellite has already fallen, I now believe that this is unlikely. Close to where I observed the meteor, there were three other people (strangers) standing on the sidewalk who confirmed that they also saw the object. At first, from the appearance of the meteor, I believed that it was some kind of firework. However, since it persisted all the way to the horizon, I concluded that this was likely a meteor. |
