Reports Report 1137d (Event 1137-2011)

Observer
Name Heather M
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks It was somewhat like a shooting star only larger and with color. It may have made a slight arc as it passed from left to right, but was mostly horizontal. We were near the south end of the Pensacola airport, but recognized that this was not an aircraft. We did see an airplane in flight east of us just a few seconds after our sighting.

Observation No
Duration -1s
Length -1°
Remarks It was a yellow tail, or bright streak, that followed the blue light. If the blue ball were the size of my thumbnail viewed at arm\'s length, the tail would have been about 4-5 inches in length. The tail seemed to disappear as the blue ball disintegrated into white sparkles.
Terminal flash
Observation Unknown
Remarks As the bright ball neared the right side (south) of our range of vision, having come from the left, or north, the ball seemed to slow and crumble or break apart into half a dozen smaller whitish bright spots which then either disappeared or left the area of sky visible to us. It was like some fireworks do when they start as one piece and then burst into several smaller pieces.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
