Reports Report 1240a (Event 1240-2011)

Observer
Name Josh
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks Ok I don't know if this was for sure a meteor but I figured I'd report it and see of anyone else saw something. I live in Gonzales Louisiana. I awoke at roughly 12:50 am to my dogs barking. Once I was awake I didn't get out of bed because they bark from time to time at nothing. I laid in bed staring at my westward facing bedroom window and that's when it happened...the whole window lit up as if there were lightening flashes one after the other. I've seen lightening storms through this window and that's the best way I could explain it. The flashes lasted about three seconds and from the way they were much brighter at the top of the window then the bottom. I immediately jumped out of bed and ran outside. My first thought was that someone was in the yard flashing a light around but I dismissed that thought quickly because of the brightness and position of the light. Once I got outside the chances it was lightning were gone due to a complete lack of clouds in the sky. It had to have been a meteor. I hope someone else was awake this late at night and can confirm what it was. If so please email me back with any info. Thank you very much. Josh and Lydia
