Remarks | I'm more of a night photographer than an astronomer. I was 15 miles west of Caliente, NV, photographing the Geminids. I was observing from my truck, leaning forward towards the windshield when this meteor occurred. I was facing almost due south. It appeared to be straight overhead, but was probably more than ten or fifteen degrees short of straight up. Being in the truck, I would have heard no noise unless it was pronounced. The photo was taken with a wide-angle lens (16mm). and covers 108 degree by 63 degree view. I cropped a little off of the left and top of this photo, but can supply the original. My backup camera also captured the meteor, but only the lower two thirds. It only covers 46 x 33. |
