Remarks This was years ago, I’m 60 know I was a young man when I observed this, this was maybe in the 80's. It was thanksgiving night or maybe the day before, I was into the running craze and felt like I had to run every day. The time was around 10-11 PM I was running around the track at the old LaFayette High School track Patton Stadum on 1ST street located in LaFayette, Georgia. I was headed south on the track and over my right shoulder I observed a bright light that caught my attention, first thought it was a full moon, I turned to observe the light and it was larger than a beach ball larger than any full moon I ever observed, the object instead of shinning it was as if it was on fire with flames shooting up from the surface. The surface looked black and appeared to be rugged with craters in the surface of the object like the cheese effect. The object moved from south west to north east direction. I thought this maybe the end I was thinking Tunguska explosion. I observed the object for several seconds and at a certain point it broke into several large pieces and continued its path and still glowing, then the large pieces broke up into what I would describe as a fireworks sparkler, at that point the sparkler(s) then died out. I never heard any noise only the visual display. I kept this in the back of my mind and never knew where to report this sitting, I never heard of a sighting like this before and did not hear of any other person observing the same sighting in the area.
