Reports Report 168any (Event 168-2018)

Observer
Name Stephanie B
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks This meteor was directly and in the center of my field of vision. I saw it from the top of my windshield until it exploded. The green was green sparks the fireball was clear and orange with a perfect orange cone behind it. My impression was that it was coming down straight and hitting nearby (actually had the impression it had hit very near or in Frankenmuth). I was driving and slammed my brakes bracing for a possible concussive force. But the tragetory I observed lined up very closely with the road I was traveling upon. It actually didn’t appear to be traveling extremely quickly (2-3 seconds in my vision) but I think that’s because it came overhead and I was observing the curved trajectory from underneath the path. There was no sound. I am a chemist and the green sparks made me believe copper was a component of the chemical structure. Very large and clear green sparks were coming off it on the sides as it traveled. I called my boyfriend quickly but not immediately afterward and it was 8:08 which is why I give the time as 8:07pm.
