Reports Report 401i (Event 401-2018)

Observer
Name Williams M
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I've watched many meteor showers in the past and I know what to expect when looking for them and how they mostly appear in your peripheral vision as a brief line. However, by complete chance, I happened to be looking almost directly where this happened whilst fixing my shed roof in the dark (it was the only time I could do it!). My initial reaction was a firework was happening right above me but the following points made me realise it was most likely a spectacular meteor. 1. It looked like a failed firework that malfunctioned after less than a second. 2. It was silent. 3. It was almost overhead from my position. 4. It appeared to be very high in the sky for a firework.

Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks It wasn't a quick flash but it appeared to go much brighter before splitting into 3 or 4 short streaks. It was brighter than the brightest iridium satalite flashed I have observed in the past which have been as bright as -7 magnitude (according to the app I have used)
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks It seperate into 3 or 4 pieces before completely disappearing. I would have bet it was a firework with the effect I saw but is was so quick and almost right above me.
