Remarks I've stayed out late for a few meteor showers over the years, typically in very dark parts of the country, and I have never seen anything even a little like this before. I was initially faced north and the edge-of-forest trail I was walking on was so dark I couldn't see my feet below me. When the fireball hove over the southwestern horizon, I thought it was car headlights lighting up the trail from behind me; it lit the whole meadow I was walking alongside. I turned around, and there was no car, but instead this amazing, huge, bright fireball. Extraordinary!
