Remarks The most remarkable sighting of my life. We were heading back to camp from safari. In the rear seat, I first noticed bright white lights seemingly coming from behind us. I thought it was another safari vehicle’s headlights but when the white light became brighter I turned to my left (I believe towards the southwest as I watched the sunset moments before) when I saw the huge orange and red fireball with a giant trail cross the sky from left to right. We were in an open area and the driver actually stopped the vehicle. He says that he stopped the vehicle because he noticed the bright white light illuminating the terrain from behind. When we arrived at camp, several people noticed that the waterhole that faces in the opposite direction of the sighting was briefly fully illuminated as well but did not witness the fireball.
