Observer
Name James R
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I was walking south on South Main Street here in Rapid River. It was very clear, temperature was about 4F. This is a residential neighborhood but no activity was visible from my position. There was a bright enough flash, just above the local church steeple about a block and a half away, to draw my eye upwards. I saw a short streak and brighter flash at about Orion's 7:30, lower and slightly east, sorry I am not an astronomer just like to watch stars. Much brighter and larger than any "shooting star" I've seen before. Much brighter and larger than a comercial airliner flying over. The sound might have been something else. I've never experienced sound from anything in the sky before but it sounded like a dull thud from somewhere quite distant.
