Reports Report 149a (Event 149-2012)

Observer
Name Ryan C
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks I feel lucky to have seen this, though it did give me a scare. I was working late refinishing a table and stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air, away from the oak dust from sanding it. Many in my area heard the boom, but did not see the object (as posted on my local news channel's facebook page). If others saw it, they are not reporting. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me. I am just curious what it was (man-made object or natural object).

Concurrent Sound

Remarks -
Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks All sounds for this object appeared delayed. It was silent as it passed over, because of its altitude, I guess. I had no timepiece, but estimated approximately 3 min before hearing a crackle and boom, after the object had broken up. I actually felt the boom in my chest, and my dog started barking inside the house (which is interesting since my walls are R-52 insulated). The boom reverberated around in the local vicinity, much like a loud thunderclap does, echoing from here to there.
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 6.5s
Length -1°
Remarks The object sailed directly over me and my home, roughly from north to south, lighting the sky enough to see my yard as if it were daylight (though a wierd green daylight). The object itself was a bright green, burning with a brightness that caused my eyes to adjust when looking at it. The sky was blue as if daylight. Red and orange bits were profusely coming off it as it streamed, and it left black directly behind it (about a dime or nickel width behind it) and grey like the planes used to when I was a kid, but a wider plume. It continued and I actually thought it would hit, but it blew apart, orange bits everywhere like a firework, and the sky went dark again. Approximately (I had no timepiece) 3 min later, I heard (and felt in my chest) a boom that reverberated around like thunder.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks This thing was huge, and very, very bright. As it went over, there were fragments coming off it, as I stated before. These burned red and red-orange as they fell away from the object. At its lowest point in the southward direction, it blew apart, with a bright green flash and red cinders everywhere, then rapidly faded to darkness.
Fragmentation
