Tuesday, Jan 31, 2012, I was (started around 530pm) stacking wood in my backyard, and sat down after I was done. The stars were visible by this point (from when I was first outside), and I remember thinking that there was a significant difference in the amount of stars visible compared to the night before. As I was sitting there, I saw a couple of planes, which is nothing unusual around my house. I leaned back even further in the chair, and was looking straight up, when I saw an extremely bright whitish bluish light in the sky. It was coming from behind me, in correlation to the way my body was positioned. It caught my eye, because it didn\'t look like a normal airplane headlight color, and I couldn\'t hear the engine, even as it got closer. As it was coming closer, I noticed it didn\'t have any beacon lights flashing on it. I remember thinking to myself, \"nah..it\'s has to be a plane\", so I kept watching it, and waiting for the sound of the engine to \"catch up to it\", but I was still confused, because the light was SO much brighter than any plane headlights I have seen in my life.
(My experience:I have either 1.heard a plane before I could see it OR 2. heard the sound with the plane as it passes OR 3. heard the engine AFTER it has passed me (it is high up, so the engine sound is delayed)
Now, it passes me, and I am now looking directly in front of me(path:was straight the entire time). When it got above my neighbors house (I am now looking directly in front of me at it) all of the sudden it accelerated extremely fast in the same direction, and then it was gone. Right before it disappeared,the color turned to a light green color. It was like \"poof\", and gone...BEST way to explain it: It was like it exploded, but my impression afterward, was that it accelerating so fast, that the flash I saw was from it accelerating even faster..It was NOT a NORMAL starburst explosion per say...Light came from all directions of it, and the flash of light went about 300 feet around it, BUT was so fast, it was literally a split second of illumination. It was instantly gone. If I hadn\'t been directly looking at it, I wouldn\'t have even seen it..That\'s how quick it was! It was like a star burst....or an explosion with NO SOUND! It didn\'t have any trails...no tail...no pieces of light coming off it...Nothing....AND I never heard anything. I waited about 3 minutes after it disappeared, trying to figure out what I had just seen, and I still never heard anything..I was expecting to hear like a sonic boom or something, because the explosion was SO big, and it was moving SO fast! I had been outside a total of 2 hours.
I initially thought it was an extremely bright plane light, and the engine sound was just delayed, and I would \"hear\" as it passed, or after. I REALLY want to find out what it was. I have seen \"shooting stars, stars dying(light goes out), meteors, comets....I have seen ALOT in my time, and I have NEVER seen ANYTHING like this...What both |
