Remarks Phoenix that day had a solid overcast the entire day. According to the National Weather Service the bottom of the cloud deck was about 9,000\' AGL at that time of the evening. The object appeared to be some distance below the clouds. After a few moments my wife told me, \"I saw the same thing last week near New River (Arizona) but it was earlier in the evening. The \"shooting star\" was below the clouds, traveling horizontally, and disappeared behind the mountains.\" At the time of the sighting I was a video producer for a large aerospace corporation in Phoenix. I own an 8\" Dobsonian scope.

Remarks I was driving south on State Route 51, approaching the area of Shea Blvd. There was a bright flash slightly above my line of sight through the windshield, but visible as it glinted off various parts of the car. The flash had a distinct left to right, or east to west motion to it. As I leaned forward to see what had caused it, my wife, sitting in the passenger seat, said it was a \"shooting star\" as she had an unobstructed view toward the west.
