Reports Report 4927ad (Event 4927-2018)

Observer
Name Tom H
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks I was driving south when the meteor appeared from high up in the sky. I saw it for perhaps 3-5 seconds, moving slowly through the arc, but it was well in progress by the time it cleared my CR-V's roof. It streaked nearly straight south and down to approximately 40-45 degrees where is had a small bolide event with three fragments that quickly faded out. It was small and bright enough that it looked like a signal flare or firework Since I was driving, I couldn't verify sound, casting shadows, or smoke trail for the event. I'm unsure of the brightness as it was tightly concentrated and I was driving, but it seemed extremely bright. Kevin Palivec verified that his cameras caught photos and videos of it from Abilene, verifying it wasn't a signal flare. I can get the details if he hasn't reported this one. I regularly conduct public star parties and meteor shower watch parties, work as a planetarium presenter for school age kids, and do astrophotography. Not sure where that rates me in your scale.
