Remarks We wish we could say that we were able to take a photo or video of this amazing occurrence, but unfortunately it happened so quickly and unexpectedly that we were awestruck. Our minds first had to grasp what we were seeing and then we would have had to react with a camera that was way too slow for the speed of the event. None of that last part happened at all. Unfortunately until the technology to download images from our brains is available we\'ll have to keep this wonderful sight to ourselves. We have read on the internet that it is now thought that there were perhaps several pieces to this meteor instead of one. The piece or meteor we saw was in a different location than others I have read about. We were traveling southbound on highway CA-139 about 7:49 AM Sunday, April 22, 2012. We had spent the night in our RV at a rustic wayside in the Modoc National Forest just a bit up the road, maybe one quarter mile. Our day of traveling had just begun when the second RV we were traveling with had to pull over to make an equipment correction and had come to a full stop at a wide spot in the roadway. We in the trailing RV made the same stop, leaving us in our cab, looking forward. This is when we saw a thin bright streak of light traveling east to west with a 25 to 30 degree downward angle. The tail was silver-white with some rainbow aspects to it and the head or the downhill portion was a luminous lime-green. It crossed the road just ahead of us, coming from over the hill that was to the east and \"blew out\" before it could land in the farmer\'s field to the west of the roadway. We heard no sound and it went quietly in the daylight, extinguishing about 200 feet above the ground. If there were fragments from this meteor then they would be in that farmer\'s field. But we saw no disruption to the field as we watched the streak of light disappear. What an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime event that was for us! We feel so fortunate to be right there when it happened. To our knowledge no one else would have seen this, unless it was seen by the owner or farmer of this field. No other vehicles were on the road at that same time as we were. And the folks in the companion RV that we were traveling with were busy with the equipment correction. We were able to backtrack our location on Mapquest.com and can share with you the co-ordinates. We hope that these GPS numbers will help you to pinpoint the location. Our location while sitting in our RV when we saw the bright light was 41.739209 & -121.2994372. The location of where the light disappeared was 41.726023 & -121.296401. Thank you.
