I have never seen anything like it in my 51 years--it was bright enough to light up our surroundings for a second as my wife and I were on our back deck talking. I quickly looked up and saw the trail in a partially moonlit sky. I couldn't believe we were seeing a meteor that bright and long lasting. I thought I'd find reports of it in the news the next day but I didn't. Also I'm not exactly sure of the time, but it was pretty late at night.

I saw the flash indirectly. It was bright enough that my wife and I saw saw our surroundings suddenly brighten for a moment, then we looked up and that's when I saw the trail.
