Reports Report 753a (Event 753-2008)

Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I saw one huge one at first then several more followed. Maybe about 4 or 5 then I saw about 7 more at a further distance up toward Haleakala Crater. The night sky was very dry arid. I was at work earlier that evening as a server at hotel hana Maui. I kept looking out at the night sky thinking to myself that it was an unusually dark star filled night air very dry kind of staticky and just different. I came home and poured myself a glass of red wine and went out on my deck because while I was at work I was thinking I’m going to watch the night sky tonight maybe I’ll see something , because the air just seemed different. Can’t describe it but very clear and dry. I would have reported this before but I never found this site until now which is many years later. So my dates are off but I never forgot it. So, this is the weird part. I was thinking to myself right before I saw the first big one.... God (kinda of a prayer) but just talking to Him, I would love to see something fantastic. I don’t need a sign, but wouldn’t it be great if you showed me something really fantastic? Right then like instantly this gigantic fireball thundered through the sky right in front of me!!! It wasn’t out there in the atmosphere like a meteor it was close like a helicopter 1000 ft away or more. I even smelled a smoke essence. I literally almost fell off my chair. It flew over my house and seemed to close that it looked like it landed or crashed very close. I was shocked and then I saw another one and another one and like I said a few more. Shortly thereafter I saw about 5-7 more further away up by the crater . Those were more distant and white. The big ones over my house we’re very colorful with long smoking tails. The first one was the brightest. At about 12 midnight I finally called one of my neighbors to tell them what I had been witnessing for about an hour. It was so strange... as soon as I made the call, a blanket of clouds coming from the ocean, literally swept over like a blanket and covered the entire sky. I always wondered what they were. Yes, fireballs. Close colorful bright with tails, huge I mean way bigger than the moon, and close not far away. I’ve since seen a few more over the years but nothing this close. I thought that it would be on the news the next day but nothing? As far as I know no one saw it but me. I went to work the next evening and told all my coworkers how fantastic it was. I was mesmerized by the experience. On another occasion a few years earlier I saw a huge bright blue light light up the whole sky. Like a giant blue flash from horizon to horizon. I saw another big meteor ball back in the 70’s while camping in the Ansa Borego dessert in Southern California. That one was on the news seen as far as over Catalina island. So I know I’m super lucky!!! I hope to see more if and when I do I’ll report it quickly. I will never ever forget that night. It was spectacular!!!
