Remarks it was an amazing sight that my daughter and i witnessed on her 29th birthday on 8/29/12. we were sitting on my back deck gazing at an almost full moon and suddenly this meteor appeared. the head followed by the train came from the west headed east. it was large and seemd very close. the head had a dark blue center surrounded by a halo of yellow/orange flame, which was followed by the train that was brilliant yellow/orange/lighter blue. it travelled across the sky for maybe 5 - 7 seconds and POOF!!! it vanished. i have seen many far away shooting stars but never anything as spectacular as this! it seemed so close and it was so big. it was a truly beautiful thing to see.
