Reports Report 4404bm (Event 4404-2019)

Observer
Name Elizabeth L
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks The main ball was yellow but I recall some red or orange and possibly even blue. It was large. It was like nothing else in the night sky. It took a moment for my mind to register it before my head turned. I had been standing in the driveway admiring the rising Harvest moon with my family. The fireball was to the right, at almost 90 degrees, to the moon. I think in that initial millisecond my mind was assessing that it was seeing something in my peripheral and that it was not an airplane, star or planet. I then turned and saw it directly for approximately 2 seconds.

Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks We heard sounds similar to the sound of fireworks in the distance but the popping sounds were in scattered locations ranging from where the fireball originated to where it disappeared, but not directly lined up with it, more like in the outlying range of it. My kids and husband heard this too. It confused me because though the popping was similar to fireworks, it was definitely not a firework that I saw. The kids and my husband heard the popping sounds too, and heard them when I saw the fireball though they missed the fireball. We heard about 4-5 pops after the fireball had disappeared. There were no other lighted objects in the sky in that area during the time before or after the fireball.
