Reports Report 4848bd (Event 4848-2019)

Observer
Name Taylor H
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I have seen many meteor showers and have often dragged my significant other out in the middle of the night to watch the Perseids or the Orionids. I've seen hundreds of meteors and I frequently point out significant celestial bodies in the night sky to those who are around me. I have traveled many hours to witness events such as the recent (2017) solar eclipse. I love the cosmos and have a great appreciation for sky above me. I have never seen anything like I witnessed this evening. The spontaneous nature of the event along with the fact that the sun was still low in the sky took me off guard. I was pretty much running out into the street to keep it in my vision for as long as I could, knowing that this was likely the one and only time I would ever see such a fireball in my life. I first noticed it in the corner of my eye, the brightness and speed immediately ruled it out as an aircraft, I began shouting to my wife to come look right away and I followed it toward the horizon as the blueish white object shed debris and left a thin white trail of smoke behind that lingered in the air for several minutes. It was a truly amazing experience.
