Remarks	I have never seen any thing like this before and assume that I never will and I sure hope that some one else saw it as well.

Remarks	I am at 3500 ft. I was looking at the mountain top in front of me approx elevation 5000 ft and 1/4 mile away . Second 1 it appeared directly into my line of sight coming straight at me. I thought that it was a 747 that just missed the top of the trees and was going to crash on me. Second 2, I now saw that it had no wings and was a round ball very bright ,light blue in front and very bright pure white behind. Second 2.5, it broke into approx 6 pieces,each with the same colouring and intensity as the large ball. Second 3, the 6 pieces broke into smaller pieces. Second 4 I lost sight of directly above me because of my roof line. My window was open the whole time.I waited for a sonic boom or percussion from the break up, but no sound was heard and the air was still and silent.It had no tail or trail. It was headed north east. My estimated diameter , of the ball from my perspective would be approx 40 ft.
