Was outside putting up lights and was facing south when I saw the fireball straight above me heading from East to West. It lasted about 5 seconds and then was gone abruptly but not explosively. Color was golden. It disappeared about 45 degrees up in the West. There were 4-5 pieces that shed off as it went across the sky. About two minutes later I heard a low boom.
