From my point of view it looked like the meteor was at the altitude of cruising aircraft on my campus (Purdue) such as the Cessna 172 aircraft. When I lost sight of it it was also due to a building and I felt as if it could carry on for at least another few seconds.

When I looked up I saw the glowing trail until it went out of my view over the building I saw it above. It stayed constant over the 3-5 seconds I could see it.
